Federal Realty Investment Trust is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support property operations at Santana Row in San Jose, CA. This is a full-time position. This is a hands-on, early-to-mid-level role for a dependable candidate with maintenance experience, a willingness to learn, and the ability to support routine repairs, property upkeep, event setup, and daily operational needs. Training may be provided for site-specific procedures and additional technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance throughout the property.
  • Complete work orders accurately and communicate status updates, property needs, and potential issues to the appropriate team members.
  • Support basic plumbing, lighting, HVAC, drywall, painting, carpentry, asphalt, concrete, paver, tile, and general repair needs.
  • Set up and break down marketing events, seasonal displays, holiday lights, decorations, furnishings, fixtures, and property equipment.
  • Maintain loading docks, compactor areas, service areas, common areas, and other assigned property spaces.
  • Coordinate professionally with tenants, residents, visitors, vendors, Security, and internal departments to support daily operations.
  • Follow company policies, property standards, OSHA guidelines, and applicable safety practices when performing maintenance, vendor support, ladder, lift, traffic, or pedestrian-related work.
  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant maintenance experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and general maintenance work.
  • Basic understanding of plumbing, lighting, HVAC, and general repair work; additional training may be provided.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to share updates, report issues, and coordinate work with others.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Ability to work flexible day/evening shift and overtime hours, as needed.
  • Must be available for on-call duty when scheduled, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds and perform physical duties associated with maintenance work, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work on ladders up to twelve (12) feet

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior maintenance experience, preferably in commercial real estate, retail, hospitality, or property operations.
  • Experience operating or certification to operate a forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift.
  • Certifications or formal training in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or related maintenance trades.
  • OSHA safety certification or related workplace safety training.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills.

 

Work Schedule: Afternoon shift of 10am – 6:30pm. Initial schedule will be Monday through Friday for training purposes. Once training is complete, the schedule will transition to the designated shift of Wednesday through Sunday, 5 days a week. Subject to change.

 

Salary Range: The typical hourly pay range is $28.50-$34.00 (equivalent to $60,000-$70,000 a year). Salary is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education, training, and/or certification in electrical, plumbing, and/or HVAC.
